Service Description: This data set consists of orthophotos covering approximately 554.2 square miles over the Winnebago County, Wisconsin. An orthoimage is remotely sensed image data in which displacement of features in the image caused by terrain relief and variations in aircraft altitude and orientation have been mathematically removed. Orthoimagery combines the image characteristics of a photograph with the geometric qualities of a map.
A total of 674 uncompressed, ortho photo tiles formatted as 8-bit, 4-band (RGB-IR) natural color GeoTIFF (with TIF world files) were produced in NAD83 (2011) WISCORS - Winnebago County System, US survey feet; NAVD88 (Geoid 12A), US survey feet. Tile size is 5,000 feet x 5,000 ft and uses a tile index which derives the tile file name from the southwest corner of the tile. There is no image overlap between adjacent files.
Aerial photography for the project was captured during the Spring of 2015 on the following flight dates: March 17, 2015 and March 18, 2015. The Nominal Acquisition Altitude of 7,500 ft (AGL) was used to capture the 0.5-foot imagery. The Microsoft UltraCam and Eagle (UCE) large format digital camera was used to capture four band (RGB-IR) imagery at 8 bits. Some areas had snow piles on the ground and ice on lakes, however this was deemed not an issue. Rivers were at or below normal levels.
